We have members from our surrounding villages of Stonehouse, Strathaven, Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill, Netherburn, Ashgill, Lesmahagow, Coalburn, Lanark, Auchenheath, Dalserf, Quarter, Glassford, Hamilton and beyond!
We are a tight knit family of athletes and always warmly welcome new members. Train with other like minded people and benefit from the friendly competition to push each other on. Running with others actually feels easier and you wont even realise that you're pushing yourself more than you did before. You will also benefit from the knowledge of our very experienced coaches who will help you achieve your goals. So what are you waiting for!?

Mini Harriers

This is our popular pre-club group giving 5-8 year olds a fun introduction to athletics with the view to them seamlessly transitioning into the club from age 9.  This is a fun, non-competitive group however they will be given the chance to be exposed to race environments.

This group is very popular and has a lengthy waiting list. We are not taking additional names until it has been reduced significantly.

Juniors

For the Age 9-15 group, Our primary school athletes train together doing a mixture of Sprints, Middle Distance & Field Events training. 

From S1 upwards they can chose to specialise in either Sprints / Long Jump or Middle Distance Training. Athletes race at Club, School, District, Inter-District and National level, depending upon age, experience and level of fitness.

This group can sometimes have a waiting list.

Seniors

Our Senior group athletes, aged 16+ train in Middle Distance and Sprint groups and we have athletes who compete in events from 100m on the track, all the way up to 100 Mile Ultra Marathons and everything in between.

You don't need to be a fast runner and you don't need take part in races.

Couch to 5k 

Complete beginner? Never ran before but want to give it a try? Maybe you ran when you were younger but gave it up and let yourself go a bit?

We hear you, and we've got you! 

We've had so much interest in a beginners group that we are finally in a position to launch our Jog Scotland, Couch to 5k group.

Its coming in January 2025 We expect this to be over subscribed so register your interest now to be the first to know when applications open.

We have a long history of athletes competing successfully at District, Inter-District, Scottish, British and International levels, including the Olympics.

 But just as important our athletes at all levels are supported to continually better themselves and achieve their goals. 

Friendly & Welcoming

When you join, you become part of the Harriers family, a welcoming and supportive tight knit community of athletes of all abilities. 

You don't need to be "fast". We have athletes who win big races and some who finish last! They are all athletes, So if you can run, you can join the Harriers.

Value for money

Achieve your fitness goals at a fraction of the cost of many other sports. Finances should never be a barrier to sport and we aim to keep our costs a minimum.

Fee's are pay as you go and you are not locked into any direct debits or standing orders.


Membership Types & Cost

Please note, these are the Annual Membership costs and small training fees apply for each session, see our training section for full details. 
*Our 5-8's Mini Harriers is a pay as you go club and does not require a membership.
We do not currently accept second claim members however members of other clubs are welcome to join us for training. If you do come along and are considering joining us you will need to fill in this form to change your first claim club to Larkhall YMCA Harriers before you will be able to represent the club in competitions.

Adult Competing Member

Allows you to compete and count in all club championships. However if you want to represent the club in any external competitions you must sign up to the Scottish Athletics Membership scheme, which you do via the Scottish Athletics Website. This is currently priced at £23 (age 21+), paid direct to Scottish Athletics when you join - Link below.

Adult Non-Competing Member

Allows you to take part in all Larkhall YMCA Harriers training activities. You will not count in any club championships but may still be allowed to take part depending on numbers.

Junior Competing Member

Allows you to compete and count in all club championships. However if you want to represent the club in any external competitions, (except schools events) you must sign up to the Scottish Athletics Membership scheme, which you do via the Scottish Athletics Website. This is currently priced at £13/£10 (age dependant), paid direct to Scottish Athletics when you join - Link below.  (Must be under 16 at the date of the YMCA AGM)

Scottish Athletics

As mentioned above, once you're a member we strongly recommend that you join the ScottishAthletics membership scheme as this allows you to compete for the club in a large variety of competitions throughout Scotland.
Benefits of Joining ScottishAthletics include;
  • Receive a £2 discount on entry fees for all open scottishathletics licensed road/MT, trail and cross country races.
  • Will receive PB magazine – packed with features on world class athletes, latest news and grassroots athletics (digital for junior members, print for senior members.
